This BMW M4 Pickup Conversion Could Be the Coolest Thing at SEMA

SEMA has some epic builds this year, but we think this one might be the best. It’s a brand-new BMW M4 Competition xDrive that has been transformed into a pickup truck. And we absolutely love it.

Built by BMW aftermarket parts supplier DinMann, this M4 looks incredibly well executed, as if it had rolled out of the factory with a pickup bed. Dubbed the M4Maloo, it features a self-healing paint protection film from Stek Automotive that creates a striking chrome-blue finish, according to BMW Blog.

The pickup started life as a brand-new M4 Coupe rather than a wrecked car, as is usually the case with pickup conversions.

DinMann managed to retain part of the carbon-fiber roof for the cabin and added a series of other carbon-fiber components to complete the build (carbon-fiber parts are DinMann’s specialty). It is unclear whether any modifications were made under the hood, although considering how fast the car is straight from the factory, we don’t think it needs any performance upgrades.

Unique BMW pickup conversions are nothing new. Before this M4, BMW built an X7 pickup in 2019, complete with a teak-lined bed. Before that came the E92-based M3 pickup, built by BMW in 2011 as an April Fools’ Day project. BMW also built an E30 pickup back in the 1980s.
