Ford has released the first images of the new 2022 Ford Ranger, which will also be available in Europe at the end of 2022.

The wait is finally over for Americans. More than a decade after the T6 generation of pickups was launched in Australia and other markets, the time has come for Ford to introduce something new.

We have seen it too (unfortunately not in person), and here are some of our first impressions.

The new model brings plenty of upgrades, including significant changes to the design. The color is familiar – we have seen it on other Ford models before. However, we cannot ignore the new, bolder look that will undoubtedly make the Ranger stand out on any road.

Looking at the new Ranger from the front, you will notice the FORD logo, the strong and imposing bumpers, and the C-shaped LED lights. The design takes inspiration from the Maverick and F-150 models, but this time the Ranger has a noticeably more aggressive presence.

Interestingly, Ford carried out extensive studies and years of research to arrive at this concept. Customer feedback and a strong focus on their needs were extremely important to Ford. After spending time with Ford owners and gathering valuable insights, the challenge was to address all of these needs in a single vehicle.

Young and old, women and men, regardless of whether they use their vehicle for off-roading, work or holidays, were studied so that Ford could design a model capable of meeting all their needs. And it looks like they succeeded!

To begin with, Ford identified the common features all customers are looking for: performance, capability, power and technology. Everyone wants a vehicle they can rely on, so alongside improved on-road stability, the off-road capabilities have also been enhanced.

By focusing on the customer experience and their needs, Ford has managed to bring to market a pickup that people can trust. The manufacturer wants owners to feel that Ford is there for them day after day, month after month and year after year, for as long as they drive the vehicle. We certainly like that philosophy!

And let's not forget that this is a highly competitive market. No matter how important customer needs are, Ford also has to differentiate itself from the competition. We have no concerns on that front either. The Ranger's capability, off-road credentials and driving dynamics are exactly what set it apart from its competitors, and the new model has been built around these strengths and taken them to the next level.

Let's take another look at the key features and what the new Ford brings to the table.

Among the significant differences are a redesigned cabin, a larger load area, three engine options, larger wheels, a more advanced four-wheel-drive system depending on the trim level, four-wheel disc brakes, space for two batteries, and integrated electronic trailer brake control.

In other words, as the manufacturer describes it, this is “the smartest, most versatile and most capable Ranger ever.”

Because Ford has such a broad global distribution network, a global approach to the new Ranger's features was essential. At launch, the Ranger will be available with three engine options depending on the market. Depending on the trim level selected, it will come with different wheels, but all of them are impressively large.

Customers asked for more power, so the model is also available with a V6 diesel engine.

To make things easier for customers, Ford noticed that people were climbing onto the rear wheel of the vehicle to access the bed. That's why the new model features an integrated step that makes getting into the bed much easier. It is also strong enough to handle the job and certainly much safer than climbing onto the vehicle's wheels. A big LIKE from us for this!

Even though the exterior looks impeccable, people spend most of their time inside the vehicle. And the interior looks fantastic too. One of its standout features is the touchscreen display. We also cannot forget the seats, which look extremely comfortable.

In conclusion, we have a model that combines power with an athletic and bold design, while its development was heavily influenced by customer feedback. The other competitors have plenty of work to do to reach this level.
